we got a call.

i started to panic.

we prayed, and we called her back.

yes, we'll take them.

we hurried to the basement.

pj's & a change of clothes for in the morning.

a stuffed animal on the bed, and put up the pack 'n play.

i busied myself in the kitchen.

maybe they will need something to eat before bed.

i swept the floor and decided to add 2 seats to the table now, so it would be ready for the next day.

out of things to do.

read Psalm 111.

they should be here by now.

another call.

they aren't coming, they are going with their dad.

settle down, get ready for bed again, and turn off all the lights.

and as i lay in bed, i see the hand of the Lord actively working in our lives that night.  it's not what we were expecting.  we said yes, knowing this is what God has called us to do.  and yet, He stepped in and said "not yet".  there must be someone else that is meant for our home.  and He knows.

so, we wait for another phone call.

  1. Oh, wow...this is neat to hear. Not just of the 'almost,' but of your attitude and looking to the sovereign Creator and Ordainer of all life events, big and small. I'm praying for you guys! And I'm looking forward to seeing what the Lord does with your sweet fam. *LOVE YOU GUYS*

  2. I am so very glad you are blogging this journey! I am praying for those little people whomever they might be and so very excited to see what God is going to do. Hugs Sarah!

  3. Loved this, Sarah. It's hard to explain the crazy ups and downs of the moments after a phone call, but you did a beautiful job putting it into words.

so glad you stopped by! i love to know who's been visiting, so leave a comment, if you would please!
