a good heart update

for those of you who prayed so hard for us 5 years ago,
thank you.
Isaac in 2007
(coarctation of the aorta, heart surgery at 14 days old)

an update:
Isaac had a follow up at the cardiologist this week.  as always, we practiced the day before so that the various events wouldn't throw him off too much.  mommy squeezed his arm so that he would know what the blood pressure cuff would feel like.  a hefty blob of lotion was smeared on his chest so that an ultrasound wouldn't throw him off.  there was lot's of sitting up strait and listening to his chest, and we even talked though what would happen if they needed a chest x-ray.

turned out that they didn't need an ultrasound or an x-ray, but an EKG.  we didn't practice that one.  and while he did fine hooking up and laying still so they could record his heart beat, he wasn't prepared for having to peel off the 9 sticky pads that are used.  ouch!

a few tears and some spiderman & hotwheels stickers followed.  he chatted up the nurse and the doctor, telling them all about the things he's been up to lately, informing them that he is 5, how fast he can run, how excited he was to go paint after we were done there and about his brother who was waiting at home with Aunt Alicia.

there were smiles all around as we left.

we praise God that He has taken and is taking care of our boy!  there is nothing new to report as our little man's heart is growing normally and he doesn't have to go back until he's 7.  we are so thankful for the mercy God has shown us by letting us keep this boy.

Psalm 127:3

"Behold, children are a gift of the Lord,"

  1. Oh! ..I remember crying once we saw him in the hospital, hooked up to a million things. So thankful for the Lord's plans for him...what a joy. Hugs & kisses to my precious nephew!

  2. Praising the Lord with you! I remember my own heart aching for you guys, thinking how hard to have your very first baby and be dealing with such big stuff right off the bat. So thankful you have a healthy and busy little boy on your hands today!
