(pic i stole off my sister's facebook page, just cuz i thought this post needed a pretty picture)
i would love to write a huge long post about all the things that God has been teaching me over the past couple weeks. but unfortunately, i have dishes to wash, floors to vacuum, supper to make, little men that need much attention (both for positive and negative reasons), and lack of courage that it takes to admit the immense amount of pride that the Lord has been extracting from my heart.
but i wanted to encourage you today, friends. so i will simply give you a couple verses that God has led me to.
"Watch over your heart with all diligence,
For from it flow the springs of life."
be very careful of things that will capture much attention within your heart. because everything you put in, will affect what flows out.
if you pour into your heart things that are good and God honoring, then what will come out will be a life full of the things of the Lord, which include love, joy, patience, etc. (see Galations 5:22-25 for more wonderful fruits).
i don't think i have to caution you of putting sinful things into your heart. we all know that's a bad idea & wrong. but what about things that aren't "bad" but aren't good? the "gray area's" we so fondly like to refer to them as?
it stands to reason, if you put into your heart things that are neutral, then what flows out will be a neutral life. oh, it might not be a hard life. but a life that is neutral sounds not only unsatisfying and boring, but of no profit eternally. remember God's words to the church at Laodicea "So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth." (Rev. 3:16)
do we want Christ to speak to us that way? i hope not.
watch over your heart with all diligence! be on guard, keeping a careful eye to protect your mind and emotions from worthless things. put into your heart the things that are wonderful and holy and God honoring, for it will result in the flowing out of something amazing! scratch that, amazing doesn't even begin to cover it. ;)
